The State Government has decided to revive the Government Aviation Training Institute which has been closed since 2005. Global Avionatics, the sister organisation of the Ahamadabad Aviation and Aeronautics Limited has come forward to revive the institution.Nandalal Bhatia, CMD of the Company called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard and held a detailed and elaborate discussion on Tuesday.
The institute would be revived through the PPP mode. An agreement to this effect would be made in July. In the first phase, one batch would start. In each batch, 15 students would be accommodated."We will put the aviation industry of Orissa into the world map," said Bhatia after meeting the Chief Minister. But he did not divulge much about the discussion.
Meanwhile, the State Government has proceeded to set up an air strip in Jharsuguda. The Air Port Authority of India asked the State Government to provide 800 acre of land for this purpose.
