3 lakh IT jobs to be available for Orissa students: Minister.

The Capital Education Fair, 2008 came to an end on Monday, with Governor MC Bhandare as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Minister of Energy and IT Surjya Narayan Patro, who also addressed the function, observed that in this age of IT and biotech, the students should be exposed to such fairs in order to finally select a career for themselves without much headache.
Patro was happy to note that the State Government is working in tandem with big companies and business houses for creating job opportunities for the students. The Government is determined to see that more job opportunities and more professionals are created in order to meet the growing demands not only at home but also to avail overseas employment. A grand highway was constructed from the Bhubaneswar airport to the IT complex site at the behest of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, which takes only 25 minutes' drive to reach their destination, the Minister said.
He hoped that out of the eight crore employment opportunities available in the IT sector within a few years from now, at least three lakh jobs would come as a bonanza to the students of Orissa, which equals to the total number of employees of the State Government. Thus, a fair of this kind is timely and appropriate for the students and their parents.
Guest of Honour Higher Education Minister Samir Dey was of the view that there should be an integrated approach among the educational institutions, universities and the Government for introducing need-based modern subjects like IT, biotechnology and the like so that the educational mafias do not have an edge over Governmental institutions of public interest just to make big money for themselves. In such a context, such educational fairs are highly beneficial for the student community. Dey further suggested that the State Government might come out with helping hands with the organisers of the fair from the coming year, since the ideas and insights coming out from such deliberations would give the Government an opportunity to work for the students.
Bhandare greatly appreciated the endevours of the organisers to conduct such an educational fair, wherein a number of publishers, Governmental and non-Governmental technical institutions have come closer for providing necessary information to the student community. He was happy to note that Bhubaneswar is going to be a 'knowledge city' of eastern India since many technical institutions of national and international standards have come up here. The minerals-rich and culturally rich State of Orissa is going to be also technically rich in the days ahead," he observed. However, quoting Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi, he pointed out that no education would be complete without humanism.
The meeting was presided over by Sudipta Roy. A cultural extravaganza that continued followed the meeting.
