All primary schools in State to be electrified

All the primary schools in the State will be electrified. All of them would be given power connection under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyut Yojana. The Village Committee will bear all the expenses regarding the electrification of the schools. A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy.The School and Mass Education Department will urge the Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) to bring the electricity dues of the schools under general categories. Steps would be taken to clear all the pending dues incurred against the use of power by the schools authorities.
Some amendments will be brought in existing rules of the Village Education Committee. Henceforth, one of the parents will be chosen as the president of the Village Education Committee.The headmaster of the school will act as the Member Secretary of the Committee. Massive plantations will be taken up in the school premises. The teachers would be ultimately responsible on the quality on the standard of education.
