New policy on anvil to promote small, medium scale industries.

In a bid to promote small and medium scale industries in the State, a new policy to this effect would be soon formed said a senior official of the Government. All the departments would be asked to purchase their products from the small and medium scale units. A decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
In yet another development, representatives of the 13 big industrial houses met the Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy and urged him to take steps to relax the laws relating to pollution control. They also cited that they were still facing problem in acquiring lands and raw materials for their industries. "Law and order is another problem," they cited. Earlier on Friday representatives of 14 industrial houses met Tripathy.
Chief Secretary Tripathy heard grievances of industries which had already started production. Sources said that of the 46 companies which had signed MoUs with the Government for setting up steel units in the State, 26 had already started production.Realising that frequent violence over land, water and road in different places affected pace of industrilisation in the State, the Government has decided to establish more police stations in industrial areas, official sources said.
