Infosys to invest Rs 500 cr in State.

Computer software major Infosys will invest Rs 500 crore in the Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES) in the State. A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Director HR, Infosys TV Mohan Das Pai along with his team attended the meeting.More than 5,000 employment opportunities would be created in the IT sector. Infosy has also decided to give employment to 700 engineers at its Development Centre in Bhubaneswar this year. Software exports would reach Rs 5,000 crore by the end of 2011-12, the Government spokesperson claimed.
The team under the leadership of Pai assured the State Government that it would invest in the health sector, creating job employment opportunities in the rural areas. It has also extended help to popularise the mid-day meal scheme.Pai said the Infosys would provide help in developing the health structure. It has planned to open a multi specialty hospital in Bhubaneswar. Another heart-care hospital in the lines of Narayan Hrudalaya of Bangalore would be opened."However, we need SEZ status to develop our computer centre. We require 50 acres of land for this purpose," he said, adding that it would extend the mid-day meal scheme provided under the "Akshya Patra" to areas like Kandhamal and Gajapati. Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bijay Kumar Patnaik and other senior officials were present at the meeting
