Govt doctors to be paid more.Junior Class I status for doctors at entry level .

The State Government on Thursday issued a notification regarding the enhancement of the pay scale of doctors. Henceforth, the entry level scale for Assistant Surgeons will be considered as Junior Class-1 with a pay scale of Rs 8,000 -13,500. The cadre will be restructured within two months in order to create sufficient promotional posts at different levels.The regular specialists of all categories of Orissa Medical Service Cadre holding the post of specialists in the district and peripheral Government hospitals will be granted specialist allowance of Rs 3,000 per month in lieu of special pay. The doctors conducting post-mortem will get an allowance of Rs 500 per case.
With a view to preventing dislocation of health services in the tribal and backward districts of the State all sanctioned posts of specialists shall be filled up by suitable deployment in the peripheral and interior areas of the aforesaid district on priority basis.A new legislation will be introduced to prohibit violence against Medicare service persons and damage of property in Medicare service institutions.
Earlier, the Orissa Medical Service Association threatened that they would go on strike if the notification regarding the enhancement of pay scale was not notified.
